About Us

PARENTS, FRIENDS AND RELATIVES: WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP

DUE TO SOME INTERNAL CHANGES AND OUR EVER GROWING WAITING LISTS, WE NEED MORE UNIFORMED LEADERS AND ASSISTANTS FOR BEAVERS AND CUBS.  YOU CAN TAKE A TRIAL PERIOD TO SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT AND THERE IS LOTS OF DIGITAL AND FACE TO FACE HELP AND SOME VERY SIMPLE TRAINING TO PARTICIPATE IN, ALL OF WHICH CAN BE DONE ONLINE AT YOUR CONVENIENCE.  WE ARE A VERY FRIENDLY BUNCH BUT ITS BREAKING OUR HEARTS HAVING TO TURN CHILDREN AWAY DUE TO LACK OF VOLUNTEERS.  SCOUTING IS A WONDERFUL ACTIVITY TO IN WHICH TO PARTICIPATE, SO REWARDING AND LOTS OF FUN. SO, PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING OUR TEAM OR SIMPLY MAKING AN ENQUIRY.

FOR FURTHER INFO ON POSITIONS AVAILABLE, UNIFORMED OR NON-UNIFORMED, PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP SO WE CAN GROW THE GROUP AND MEET DEMAND.

Scouts prepare young people with "Skills For Life"

Each week Scouts gives almost half a million people aged 6-25 the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

We’re talking about teamwork, leadership, resilience and skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians.

Everyone is welcome without discrimination.  Regardless of your child’s physical ability, there’s a scouting adventure out there waiting for them and our scouting family and young leaders will do all they can to help you and your child participate.  The new Easingwold Outdoor Centre (The Dawney), currently under development, will be fully disabled compliant.

When you join Scouts you become part of the largest youth movement worldwide, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures helping you to aim high.

What do Scouts do?

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers.  Sure, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing but we also get to hang out with our friends every week catching up on the news, having fun, playing games, team-working and taking on exciting new challenges whilst collecting an armful of badges and a host of other scouting awards.

Volunteers

Scouting depends upon our volunteers and cannot function without you!  There are lots of ways you can get involved, from helping out occasionally on a parent rota, volunteering your time as a leader supporting local scouting or joining working parties to facilitate specific projects from time to time.  Our volunteering opportunities are as varied as you!  Whether you’re helping a leader run an activity in the local village hall, organising a night away or buttering 120 slices of bread for a group of very hungry eleven year olds, no two scout meetings are the same.  The difference YOU make though is always of great value.

Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people.  Our approach focuses on what you want to achieve out of volunteering, while respecting how much time you can offer.  Over 90% of our volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.
